Trailer

His friends call him Brooker. It's a short list.

Filmed in Tampa Bay, FL

What is Brooker?

Brooker is a feature length film that was produced and filmed all around Tampa Bay, FL. Our locations include Dunedin, St Petersburg, Medard Park in Hillsborough County, Eckerd College, and many more spots you might recognize! 95% of the crew were local hires, and we're proud to bring you this sun soaked adventure, with a premiere scheduled for summer of 2025.

What's it About?

Marshall Brooker is a relic hunter for hire. On his latest job, he discovers an ancient mask that seems to possess supernatural powers. Instead of turning it over to his employers, he attempts to hold it hostage until the price is raised. Unfortunately for him, the man paying for his treks into the jungle is Roman Stalnik, a heartless collector of relics, and a man who already knows their power. Now, Brooker must find a way to protect his family and get out alive, before the occult cabal funding Roman gets their hands on the relic.

The Vibe

Sun. Water. Waves. Gators. These are things that come to mind when you think of Florida. Brooker is a word we want to add to that list. This is a distinctly Florida movie, without pandering to any particular city or location. It embraces the ancient parts of the state; the caves , the ocean. We touch on the extreme wealth and the struggling citizens that live side by side. Brooker is a film about belief, struggle, and a state that somehow holds them all in a precarious balance.

Themes

Brooker is about the tension we feel between responsibility and greatness; dreams and what’s right in front of you. I think a lot of people want to believe that they’re meant for more, that they have a bigger part to play in the world.

Brooker is a comment on that feeling, but certainly not an answer. In the film, a number of characters deal with the uncomfortable reality that they might not be the center of the universe. At the same time, they find out that the universe is much more complex than they ever assumed. I wanted to have characters live in this tension, because it’s so easy for us to ignore it in our day to day lives. And yet, occasionally, we have these moments where something sacred breaks through. Our understanding is challenged. Our faith is expanded, or broken.

Brooker himself spends most of the film dealing with an encounter he has on page eight, because it’s something he can’t explain. The relics in the film represent the existential realities that surround us, that we have no control over. They do indeed have unique powers, but it is foolish to try and harness them. In much the same way, we cannot control the forces that shape our world.
